The National Health and Medical Research Council has released a stroke care package they say is designed to improve care of patients presenting in the emergency department with acute stroke and transient ischaemic attack.
The package, comprising a number of evidence-based interventions to be applied to the management of a particular condition, was selected by a group of emergency and stroke clinicians.
NHMRC said the implementation of the recommendations is projected to result in: timely and accurate stroke and transient ischaemic attack assessment; timely and appropriate clinical management consistent with national guidelines; and increased consistency of care.
